Kenna Barradell Artist
Kenna Barradell is influenced by the expressionists of the early 20th century, in particular by Miro and Soutine. She also finds modern abstract non-representational works extremely beguiling.
Art Gallery
In early 2019, 21st Century Fascism, took inspiration from Jean Miro’s life and works. One of the pieces from this series won an Award of Excellence at the Sooke Fine Arts Show in 2019.
Kenna recently began a botanical series on planet warming that express the fragility of the lands bordering the Salish Sea, specifically the botanicals on Kanaka Bluffs, Portland Island. This fall she is painting a series that explores Transitions from childhood into the fragile expression of adult sexuality in Canadian society. This series marks a return to figurative work evoking emotional and political responses.
